The AASD supports new teachers in their first years in the profession through a
Teacher Induction Program. This program, in compliance with
PI-34, provides formal orientation, mentoring and seminar opportunities to initial educators. Implementation details for the three components are found below.
- Orientation provides initial educators an opportunity to learn about district philosophy, curriculum, assessments, policies and procedures.
- Mentoring services are built on a confidential and reciprocal relationship between the mentor and the initial educator. Initial educators are provided a mentor who will provide support over a three year period.
- Seminars are held monthly to enhance the quality of instruction practices and programs. Seminars promote a supportive network across the district for new teachers and are aligned with WI's Educator Standards.
