Mielke Educator of the Year Award 2013-2014
Since 1983, outstanding AASD educators have been recognized through the Mielke Educator of the Year awards.  The Mielke Family Foundation has designated 2 categories for this prestigious award:  Elementary and Secondary. School staff, parents, students, or community members may generate nominations. To nominate an educator, please check out the information below.  Mielke award winners receive an unrestricted cash award of $1,000, which will be presented at the AASD All Staff Gathering on August 25, 2014. Nomination packets are due to Cheryl Nisler at the Scullen Leadership Center by June 15, 2014.
 
 
The Helen & Ade Dillon Award 2013-14
The Dillon Award recognizes an AASD staff member who encourages a balanced life for students in and out of the classroom or school setting. This staff member takes a personal interest in students' moral, mental, and physical development, thereby enhancing the students' life skills for continued development of academics, fitness, and citizenship.  This individual will have successfully completed a minimum of 5 years employment in the Appleton Area School District. To honor the Dillons' legacy, one unrestricted cash award of $1,000 will be presented to a recipient at the AASD All Staff Gathering on August 25, 2014. Applications are due to Cheryl Nisler at the Scullen Leadership Center by June 15, 2014.
 
 
The Apple Award 2013-14
The Apple Award is given to students of the Appleton Area School District who have significantly contributed to the health and wellness of their school or community. The winner will receive a cash award to be utilized to support a health initiative in the community of the student or student group's choice. The winner will be announced at the Education for Healthy Kids Summer Institute (Aug. 5-6). Applications are due to Cheryl Nisler at the Scullen Leadership by June 15, 2014.
